“Attire to Inspire” Fashion Show
In the fall the Foundation hosts the “Attire to Inspire” fashion show at the Michigan Shores Club in Wilmette. This is a fun event and a great way to reconnect with others after the summer break. The event is full of fashion, food, friends and the latest fall trends. Proceeds go towards the Foundation’s Gripp Grant program which funds projects that expand, enrich and complement educational opportunities for students, staff and community members of District 39.
B-I-N-G-O!! In October, the Foundation hosts a family Bingo Night at the Masonic Hall in Wilmette. Kids have a ton of fun playing this classic game. There is excitement in the air as the cards are covered and the kids are sitting on the edge of their seats ready to yell “Bingo!”. Winners select prizes from a table-full of donated games, toys, gift cards, etc. This fundraiser is fun for the entire family. Proceeds raised support the Gripp Grant program.
In March 2008, the Foundation held a gala reception to present it’s first Distinguished Citizen Awards, celebrating the achievements and community involvement of Roger and Gina Meyerson. Roger Meyerson is the 2007 Nobel Laureate in Economics and Gina Meyerson is a co-founder of the Foundation and its first chair. The Distinguished Citizen event continues to serve as both a community building and fundraising event that provides all of us the opportunity to celebrate and honor the incredible alum and citizens in our District 39 community.
Sam Mikaelian Community Arts Event
The District 39 Educational Foundation also sponsors complimentary cultural arts events for the community through our Sam Mikaelian Fine Arts Fund (SAM Fund). This special endowment was created in 1998 in honor of the retiring superintendent’s 31 years of exceptional service to the District.
Trivia Night Fundraiser
The Foundation has hosted a Trivia Night for the past four years for the District 39 community. Each year parents, friends and neighbors form teams, come dressed in in their “table theme” and put their heads together to show off their knowledge of random facts. Over 20 tables compete for the awards of overall Trivia Winner and “Best in Show”. “Name that Tune” and “Heads or Tails” are other fun competitions. Proceeds from this event support the Foundation’s Gripp Grant program.
