Notes & Policies

  • For 7:35 – 8:35 am Courses at Highcrest Middle School: Children should be dropped off at the main entrance and go directly to their Science Olympiad classroom.
  • For Courses at Wilmette Junior High – All evening Courses: Children should be dropped off at main entrance and go directly to the classroom assigned to his/her Science Olympiad class.
  • There is no bus service. Parents are responsible for all transportation arrangements. (*Exception WJHS students ONLY may take the activity bus home when it is running. Activity bus typically leaves WJHS between 4:20 and 4:30). The activity bus is run by D39 for WJHS students engaged in extracurricular activities. As such, we have no control over or information about its schedule.
  • Registration opens October 13, 2016. Registration is first come, first served. Sorry, no refunds after October 31, 2016.
  • Session runs from Dec. 6, 2016 – Feb. 10, 2017.
  • Program is open to all current Highcrest and Wilmette Junior High students.
  • Students who choose to attend courses at a campus other than their own are responsible for all transportation to and from that course. Students must have parental permission to walk to and from the other campus on their own. No chaperon or crossing guard will be present.
  • We reserve the right to cancel/change any course for any reason.
  • For after school courses, please pick your child(ren) up promptly from all courses. We have a 10 minute grace period, after that, your your student will be sent to the DEN. Your child must abide by all DEN policies once there.
  • We reserve the right to charge $10 for every 10 minutes that you are late to pick up your student(s).
  • Safety is our utmost concern, if your child was in school but is not planning to attend Olympiad, please e-mail your child’s Science Olympiad leader and the Facility Coordinator.
  • If your child was not at school (or will not be at school), he/she may NOT attend that day’s Science Olympiad class.
  • Remind student each day they have class.
  • Remind student that there is no food allowed in Olympiad classrooms. Exception is the food required for the Food Science course.  If your student would like to bring a nut-free after school snack, he/she may do so. The snack must be eaten prior to the start of the Olympiad session.
  • In the event of a class cancellation – an email will be sent to the address you gave at registration.  We are not under any duty to reschedule missed or cancelled classes.
  • Unacceptable behavior will be reported to the student’s parent. If unacceptable behavior recurs, the student will be asked to withdraw and no refund will be issued.
